Diane Pernet on McQueen's Successor

An interesting thought from Diane Pernet, whom I just interviewed about a show she's curated called MRKT, inside the Scope art fair, which opens tomorrow in New York. After talking about the artists/designers featured in the show, Pernet told me about brands she loves right now and the importance of multimedia, adding a thought on McQueen's successor:

"I love Boudicca because I think they are in a constant state of refinement but they also think very much into the future and about multimedia. I believe that if a good headhunter were around, desperately trying to find a replacement for our dear lost Alexander McQueen, I think that Boudicca would be the best choice - even though it's not going to happen.

"They're all about tailoring and futurism, which in my mind was what McQueen was about, trying different media to express new thoughts while really caring about the person wearing the clothes."

The rumored contendors for McQueen's post are Olivier Theyskens and Gareth Pugh.
