The top 10 ways to impress a woman

When
attempting to woo a woman, every man must remember that the slightest
comment can make a big difference - it could either flatter her to no
ends, or offend her in ways that you didn't think was possible.

Here are the top 10 ways to impress a woman:
10. Look her in the eye: Remember, if she catches you staring at her chest
when she's telling you how much her mom means to her, you'll look like a
creep.
9. Be well groomed: Women want their men to be well
groomed. They want them to look and smell good all the time. That
doesn't mean you necessarily have to be clean-shaven, but any facial
hair you do have should be well maintained, reports Fox News.
8. Help her with her coat: Women love old-school displays of chivalry.
Helping her put on her coat is a great example. It's a kind, courteous
act that's not so common anymore. It's also a good way to increase her
comfort level with you as it allows you to get close to her without
getting too close.
7. Socialize with her friends: Women are
attracted to likable, social, charming men, the kind of guys their
friends and families will love. So, engage in conversation with her
friends even as you're working your magic on her. Impress them and
you'll impress her. Just make sure it's clear that she's the one you're
interested in.
6. Ignore your phone: Nothing says, "You're not
that important.... " like taking a call from someone else or checking a
text in the middle of a conversation.
The culture of texting has
gotten way out of hand. Too many men think it's perfectly acceptable to
take a phone call or fire off an e-mail while you're on a date or in the
middle of a conversation.
When you're talking to a woman, let her
see you silence your phone or turn it off completely-show her she has
your undivided attention.
5. Ask her questions: Just about every
woman likes to talk about herself. It's a subject on which she has a lot
of expertise, after all.
Asking her questions about her past and
her favorite things will allow her to open up and feel comfortable,
while simultaneously showing her that you're interested in more than
just her looks.
4. Open doors: Opening the door for a woman is a
classic gentlemanly gesture. The otherwise admirable push for gender
equality has largely eliminated acts of chivalry like this one.
3. Compliment the way she looks: Give this a shot: Compliment the way she
looks in her outfit. Say something like, "You look great in that dress."
It's a great way of telling her she looks hot without rerunning the
same old compliment and it also communicates that you're attracted to
her in a way that, "Cool jacket!" does not.
2. Ask for advice: It
shows her that you value other people's opinions-in particular, her
opinion. Be careful not to come off as clueless here, though; you don't
want to act like you know nothing.
For example, does she think you
should move into a townhouse or a loft? This kind of question allows
her to easily express an opinion, and hopefully sparks a more extensive
conversation.
1.Compliment her positivity: Telling a woman she gives off a "happy" vibe will make her feel good.
It
also allows you to then ask her about the things in her life that make
her so happy, which will make her feel even better, positive feelings
that she'll ultimately associate with talking to you. (ANI)

Womb

Chemical components of sarsaparilla include steroidal saponins, and minerals such as (magnesium, calcium, aluminum, chromium, iron, magnesium, selenium, and zinc).

Property

1. As antibacterial
According to a study published in PubMed in 2003 by S. Das, R. Prakash and SN Devarai, stating that Sarsaparilla can be used as a diarrhea medication.

This study was conducted to test the antimicrobial activity against S. Sarsaparilla typhimunium, E. coli and S. flexneri. The results showed that Sarsaparilla is more effective than standard anti-diarrhea medications. Sarsaparilla produces antidiarrheal effect because the antibacterial properties and may reduce the intestinal contractions.

2. To cope with Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a common skin condition associated with the life cycle of skin cells, causing a buildup of dead skin cells more quickly so the skin becomes scaly and red blotches appear on the skin that ache.

The content of saponin in Sarsaparilla may produce endotoxins which have binding properties of the toxin. Sarsaparilla has been used in the wider society to treat other skin conditions such as rashes, eczema and wounds.

3. Anti-inflammatory (anti-swelling)
Anti-inflammatory properties of Sarsaparilla make it useful in treating conditions such as arthritis, gout and rheumatism.

4. To help regulate hormone regulation
Sarsaparilla is believed to be a rich source of testosterone due to the effects of steroid saponins contained in it.

5. To improve memory
Scientists from the Medical University in China published a study on “Brain Research” in October 2005 showed that Sarsasapogenin given orally (by mouth) in mice can enhance learning and memory in the cortex, hippocampus and striatum of rat brain .

Although, human studies have not been performed on Sarsaparilla function as memory enhancers, but herbal tea is believed to function improve concentration and memory.

Drinking coffee can aggravate Menstrual Pain

Cramping and pain are common in women who are menstruating menstruation alias. Pain during menstruation it can get worse if the woman also drank coffee.

Menstrual cramps are contractions of the uterus before and during the period. The pain of menstrual cramps are the most common cause of skipping work or school on young women and adolescents, according to Medline Plus.

Disposable diapers and Ngedot, Men 30 Years of Life Like Baby

Stanley Thornton age was 30 years old, but men today still wear diapers, ngedot, drinking bottles, food being fed and sleeping in the crib. The man who likes to be treated like the baby was having paraphilic infantilism.

Paraphilic infantilism is a condition of a person who has the desire to use diapers and be treated like a baby. Some people who have a love of diapers known as diaper lovers (DLS).

Meanwhile, people who enjoy being treated like a baby but has no known sexual desire with adult babies (babies Adult / AB). Generally DLS and AB have no sexual feelings towards children.

The urge to be treated as an infant usually appears at the age of 5-15 years and the majority are heterosexual. Since fantasy is not harmful, then people with infantilitis rarely seek medical help.

These conditions experienced by American men from California until he was nicknamed the Adult Baby. Thornton has always wanted to be treated like the baby is in diapers, drinking from a bottle even sleep in the crib. This is because Thornton seek comfort with being treated like a baby.

He has a thriving ‘adult child’ in her apartment in California to build a giant box, spends his days playing lego pacifier sucking and drinking from a bottle and always fed at meals by Sandra Diaz, who acted as ‘mother’ alias is paid as a caregiver.

When 13-year-old Thornton often wet the bed, and he began to return to childhood at the age of 14 years who always want the convenience of infancy such as toys, beds and using a pacifier. When he was 20 years old until now she still wore diapers every day.

Dark Chocolate is Better than Carrots For Healthy Eyes

During this time to have a keen eye should be diligent to eat carrots. But for those who are not fond of carrots, dark chocolate (dark chocolate) can be an option. Dark chocolate has even more benefits than the carrot.

Recent research has found that dark chocolate (dark chocolate) can increase the ability of the eye to see in low kontas situations, such as bad weather for example, as reported by MSNBC on Tuesday (08/09/2011).

Not only that, this study also adds the results of previous studies showing that eating chocolate can make sharper.

Other benefits offered are dark chocolate can lower blood pressure and also appears to have beneficial effects on cholesterol levels, platelet function and insulin sensitivity.

In this latest study, researchers from England’s University of Reading studied 30 men and women ages 18 to 25 years to test the ability of vision and thought for a few hours after eating chocolate regularly regular size.

There are two tests, first test by eating a bar of black cokelap and the second test with white chocolate. The difference is the amount of flavanol content, which is naturally occurring compounds in cocoa. Of course, dark chocolate contains more flavanols than white chocolate.

The result, researchers found that the ability of flavanol-containing cocoa can increase blood flow to the brain, and researchers speculate that this may also increase blood flow to the retina of the eye.

The good news is that other studies have shown positive effects of cocoa flavanols on blood flow is even greater for people over age 25.

The results of this study have been published in the journal Physiology & Behavior.

Packed with Small Plates When not Want Fat

Not just changing the menu to be healthy food, plate size can also help you lose weight. Eating with small plates can make the stomach full faster, thereby reducing the size of the meal.

If you want to lose weight, eat make small changes to the way you eat. Eat a small plate and do not eat in front of the television.

This conclusion is based on research conducted America’s Cornell University. According to the new study, eating using a smaller plate can help you lose weight 2 pounds or 0.9 kg per month.

“This is a simple strategy that is much more likely to succeed than others. It is easier to change the environment rather than changing your mind,” explains Dr. Brian Wansink, as reported by Dailymail, Tuesday (09/08/2011).

When spending the food on the plate, the brain sends a signal that the stomach is full. So eat a smaller plate will give visual cues to your brain that you are satisfied with a plate full of food.

In addition to eating a small plate, not eating in front of the television can also help you lose weight. Eating should be done with full concentration if you do not want the hunger to come back quickly. Eating in front of the television can disrupt your concentration on food, thus giving the sensation of fullness for longer.

Concentration and memory may help a person to control the appetite, even without ever realized by the concerned.

“The lesson is, do not rely on you to tell your stomach when the stomach is full. This could be lying,” explained Dr. Wansink.

Blood tests to check Baby Sex So Controversy

Technological development makes everything so much easier, including to check the sex of the baby with the blood test results more quickly and accurately. Although practical, the new method is still a debate among experts.

Expected, blood tests will be the choice of the pregnant women to determine the sex of the baby. Compared to ultrasound (ultrasonography) and other types of examinations, blood tests are much more practical and can be done since the age of 7 weeks gestation.

As reported previously detikHealth, blood tests to check the baby’s gender has proven its accuracy in a study. Of the 201 pregnant women examined, nearly 100 percent of babies with the same sex dengna blood test results.

Recently, the research of Dr. Diana Bianchi of Tufts University again proved the accuracy of blood tests. Of the 6500 pregnant women examined, accuracy reached 98.8 percent in pregnant women who eventually gave birth to baby boys and 94.8 percent among women who gave birth to a baby girl.

“The blood test will minimize invasive procedures that have been done to detect certain genetic conditions,” said Dr. Bianchi was quoted as saying by Reuters on Wednesday (10/08/2011).

Genetic condition which meant Dr. Bianchi include hemophilia, which is generally more common in male fetuses. Because female fetuses are relatively safer, blood tests could prevent pregnant women from the examination of hemophilia unnecessary because the risk of triggering a miscarriage.

But because it can detect the sex of the baby in the womb is a very young age, this method can also trigger a tendency to be picky baby’s sex. If sex is not as expected, it is feared there are mothers who abort abortion.

“If there are parents who are picky about the sex of the baby then abortion on the grounds, then it would be a problem. Remember, gender is not a disease,” said Dr. Mary Rosser, an obstetrician from the Montefiore Medical Center in New York.

Control Obsessive thoughts

Monday morning meeting, your best friend's off hand remark, the annoying cab driver — do you obsess over every little thing? Veena Chakravarthy teaches you to break free of that compulsive thinking mould (Article in Mumbai Mirror by Veena Chakravarthy)

Shift your focus

A good way to stop ruminating over past events is to distract yourself. To break the repetitive thought cycle, experts recommend diverting your attention from 'that' particular thought for about 10 to 15 minutes. So, next time obsessive thoughts strike, try losing yourself in a book, playing with your dog or anything that engrosses you.

Let obesssion take over

But only for an allotted hour. Pick a time that's a little later in the day (for example 8 PM to 9 PM) for the thought. Prior to that, you're not allowed to let the thought cross your mind at all. By the time the clock strikes 8, whatever you were obsessing about won't seem like such a big deal anyway.

Get active

Obsessive thoughts can lead to depression as your mind can't stop ruminating over something that you perceive as negative. Next time you feel anxious, go for a jog or just engross yourself in music. Any physical activity releases endorphins or feel-good hormones which will help uplift your mood and help you think more rationally. Besides, being active will help distract you from repetitive thoughts.

Sit still

Meditate, pray or take a long walk on the beach or just indulge in any other activity that you find calming. Largely when we obsess, we tend to dwell over events that we perceive to be negative and keep trying to set things right. But, if you're all charged up and obsessing over it, you probably won't be able to see a solution in sight. So calm yourself. This gets rid of that awful feeling of urgency and helps you view things from a fresh perspective.

Be positive

Cut out those negative thinking patterns. When obsessive thoughts take over, repeat the following affirmation to yourself, 'I am a positive person' or 'I always think positively.' A positive person doesn't ruminate over past events or worry endlessly about negative outcomes. This might seem like new-age philosophy, but affirmations work at a sub-conscious level and over time you shall notice that affirmations do change your thoughts.

Phone a friend

It's an option, use it! Because, when you're obsessing over something, you're definitely not thinking rationally. So, call up a friend and talk it out. Let him/her check your irrational thoughts. Over time, you will learn to check your own thoughts.

Rectify mistakes

All right, some good does come out of obsessive thoughts — you land up changing yourself. For instance, you may be dwelling over having lost your temper on your spouse and said some harsh words. And if you're not happy about that aspect of your personality, then think about it rationally. Finally, work to alter it. The fact that you're ready to change yourself, will break the guilt trip you've sent yourself on, which in turn will break the thought pattern.

Write it down

Try and maintain a log of your obsessive thoughts. For instance, 'If I don't fare well on the test, my classmates will think I am a fool,' or 'He/she didn't greet me today, this proves they don't like me, but why don't they like me?'

This gives you clarity of thought and over time you may notice a pattern in your thoughts which could point to larger issues such as perhaps low self-esteem, low confidence levels etc. Try and deal with those deeper issues and chances are you'll manage to break free of the obsessive thinking pattern.

Since this may be too much of a task to deal with on your own, don't be afraid to ask for professional help.

Sleep more, weigh less?

Each year, readers of Consumer Reports pose hundreds of questions. One common query: What’s the connection between sleep and weight?

There is some literature connecting too little sleep to weight gain. Studies suggest that it has to do with hormones called leptin and ghrelin that reside in your fat cells and gastrointestinal tract, respectively. Lack of sleep may decrease the level of leptin, which can block feelings of satiety and encourage you to eat more. And sleep deprivation increases ghrelin, which stimulates the appetite. Seven to 8 hours of restful sleep a night is ideal to eliminate that problem.

Music may be therapeutic for cancer patients

Cancer treatments save lives, but they can be hard on the body and spirit. Now, new research suggests that a distinctly non-medical treatment—listening to music—may help buoy cancer patients' mood and take the edge off their pain and anxiety.

FOR MORE INFO VIEW INTO THE POST:

The researchers pooled data from 30 small studies looking at the effects of music on people with cancer. The findings were striking: People who listened to a music CD or had sessions with a music therapist had lower scores on anxiety tests than those only having standard care. Their level of pain was also lower, and they had slight improvements in their blood pressure, and their heart and breathing rates.

People having music treatment also rated their mood and quality of life higher. But they did not show any improvement in their level of depression or fatigue. There weren't enough studies to say which type of music treatment worked best, or what variety of music was most helpful.

The quality of most of the studies was not very good, so we need more research to confirm these results. However, it's notable that the review's strongest finding—that music may lower patients' anxiety—is echoed in reviews of studies on music for people who have heart disease or are using a device to help them breathe (mechanical ventilation). This gives added weight to this finding.

Bottom line: If you have cancer and are feeling anxious or distressed, be sure to tell your doctor. He or she may be able to relieve some of your worries and recommend treatments and support. You might also see if listening to music helps. We don't yet know what type of music might be best, but experts say compositions with a slow tempo and no abrupt changes or sharp tones are relaxing for most people.

HEALTH TIPS: Excess weight not always unhealthy

A new study has added to the evidence that when it comes to longevity, being healthy is more important than being thin.

Researchers at Toronto’s York University and other institutions looked at data from 5,453 obese men and 771 obese women who took part in the ongoing Aerobics Center Longitudinal Study in Dallas. For comparison, they also examined data from more than 23,000 normal-weight people in the same study. They grouped the obese individuals into four categories, or “stages,” based on their.........

overall health and whether they had risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, or a mental-health condition.

Obese people who had moderate or severe risk factors or coexisting illnesses had a substantially greater risk of dying during the study’s average follow-up of roughly 16 years—from either heart disease or other causes—than their normal-weight counterparts. But those who were obese but had few or no health issues had no greater risk of dying than people of normal weight, and in fact had a slightly lower mortality risk overall. The finding challenges the traditional thinking that excess weight alone is a health problem that needs to be treated, and suggests instead that it’s the lifestyle behaviors and co-occurring risk factors that often accompany obesity that account for its health risks. For example, people in the less-healthy obese cohort were less likely to eat adequate fruits and vegetables, had lower cardiorespiratory fitness, and were more likely to have cycled between higher and lower weights in the past than their obese but healthy peers.

Bottom line: This is but the latest study to find that unless obesity is severe (which is never healthy, no matter what), fitness matters more than fatness when it comes to longevity. Being svelte might look good, but it’s healthy habits—exercising, eating healthful foods, eschewing junk food, and not smoking—that can help you live well and longer.

HEALTH TIPS:Smoking causes half of all bladder cancers, study says

Bladder cancer risk for male cigarette smokers is high—50 to 65 percent of men diagnosed with it are smokers. And now women, thought to be at a lower risk, may be just as vulnerable, according to new research. While previous studies show that 20 to 30 percent of women with bladder cancer were smokers, a large study published this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association suggests that smoking is now responsible for half of bladder cancer cases in women.

FOR MORE INFO VIEW INTO THE POST:

Researchers from the National Cancer Institute analyzed health questionnaire data for more than 450,000 men and women enrolled in the NIH/AARP Diet and Health Study launched in 1995. During the course of follow-up, between 1995 and 2006, 3,896 men and 627 women were diagnosed with bladder cancer. Current smokers were four times more likely to develop bladder cancer than those in the study who never smoked, and former smokers were twice as likely.

The study’s authors say one of the reasons for the new findings is that earlier studies were conducted during times or in geographic regions where smoking was much less common among women. And the composition of cigarettes has also changed.

Bottom line: Smoking tobacco appears to cause half of all cases of bladder cancer. Quitting smoking means not only reducing your risk of bladder cancer, but also reducing dozens of other health problems.

HEALTH TIPS:Many pregnant women are still not getting flu shots

Flu vaccination has been historically low for pregnant women, despite the long-standing recommendation that pregnant women get vaccinated. And that troubling trend hasn’t changed much in recent years. According to survey data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today, only about half (49 percent) of pregnant women were estimated to have been vaccinated during last year’s flu season.

FOR MORE INFO VIEW INTO THE POST:

Pregnant women who were offered a flu shot by a health provider were five times as likely to be vaccinated as women who weren’t offered the shot, and were more likely to have positive attitudes about the effectiveness of the vaccine. However, four out of 10 women did not receive a provider offer. Among pregnant women who planned to skip the flu shot, top concerns were safety risks to their baby and the possibility that the vaccine would give them the flu. These echo some of the fears expressed in our own flu poll from last year .

But the truth is that pregnant women are at an increased risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and even death from seasonal flu complications. The flu shot given during pregnancy has been shown to protect both the mother and her baby (up to 6 months old) from flu.
.
Bottom line: Avoid the flu, talk to your doctor about getting the flu shot, even if you were vaccinated during the previous flu season. And it’s not too early—seasonal flu shots have already begun arriving at drug stores across the country. The CDC recommends that all Americans older than 6 months get an annual flu vaccination. The agency continues to stress the importance of getting the vaccine for people at high risk, including pregnant women, young children, adults over 65, and anyone with an underlying chronic disorder, such as asthma, heart disease, or immune suppression.

HEALTH TIPS:Electronic cigarettes popular, but safety questions remain

E-cigarettes is a more popular Google search term than nicotine replacement therapy, Chantix (an anti-smoking drug), or snus (a new form of smokeless tobacco), according to a study published online this week by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. A survey released at the same time by the journal hinted that the battery-powered cylindrical devices, which provide nicotine but no tar or smoke, might help people kick the habit. But we still have our reservations. Here’s why.

FOR MORE INFO VIEW INTO THE POST:

The survey focused on 216 people who bought e-cigarettes for the first time. Six months later, 31 percent had stopped smoking tobacco cigarettes, and of those 57 percent were still using e-cigarettes, 9 percent were using other tobacco-free nicotine products, and about a third had given up all nicotine products. But the survey had a very low response rate: it was initially sent to about 5,000 users. So it’s possible that smokers who were less successful with e-cigarettes were less likely to complete the survey. Moreover, smoking abstinence was self-reported, so the respondents might have exaggerated their success. Finally, the survey only looked at one brand of e-cigarettes.
But our biggest concern remains the unknown safety of e-cigarettes. Unlike other smoking devices, e-cigarettes are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, since there is still legal debate whether they qualify as medical devices. But the FDA has warned that e-cigarettes contain potentially harmful chemicals, such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient in antifreeze. And it has sent letters to five electronic cigarette distributors citing violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) including unsubstantiated claims and poor manufacturing practices.

Yes, it’s definitely worth trying to quit smoking. But you’re best off sticking with medically proven cessation aids.

Muffin top increases heart disease risk

Having a ‘modest’ beer belly or muffin top can double the risk of dying from heart disease or strokes, say scientists.
FOR MORE INFO VIEW INTO THIS POST:

A U.S. study of nearly 16,000 patients with coronary heart disease found that a layer of flab around the stomach can be as dangerous as smoking a packet of cigarettes a day or having very high cholesterol.

The findings add to the evidence that heart problems and furred arteries just linked to how much fat people have - but also to the location of the fat.

Past studies have shown that ‘apple-shaped’ women with fat around their waists are at greater risk than ‘pear-shaped’ women whose fat is on their hips.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, looked at data from 15,923 patients with coronary heart disease. They found that those with fat around their waists were twice as likely to die from the disease.

Dr Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, said that fat around the waist was more metabolically active
"It produces more chances in cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar," he said. "However, people who have fat mostly in other locations in the body, specifically the legs and buttocks, don't show this increased risk."

Doctors often assess a patient's risk of coronary artery disease by looking at their body mass index - a measure that takes into account someone's weight and height.

However, the study authors say doctors should advise patients with heart disease with normal BMIs to shed weight if they have a large waist or high waist-to-hip ratio.

Speaking about Sonakshi and Rakhi’s tiff, a source revealed, “Sonakshi won’t react to someone like Rakhi but she is very upset with the way Rakhi maligned her.
“May be they would never come face to face ever because Sonakshi will never speak to her ever in her life.”

What’s brewing between Shahrukh, Priyanka?

When rumors are afloat that Shahrukh’s better half Gauri Khan is miffed with him over his growing fondness for Priyanka, King Khan seems to be least bothered about his wife’s insecurity.

As per latest tabloids, Shahrukh is gearing up to share the stage with the desi girl Priyanka Chopra at an event in London, which is to be held later this month.
According to the gossipmongers, the Baadshah of Bollywood is the one who suggested to the organizers that they have the hottie on the show.
Well, seems like the superstar is so impressed with the bombshell that he is in no mood to heed to his spouse’s warnings also!

Upcoming Shahrukh-Priyanka ventures

Shahrukh and Priyanka will be seen playing the lead pair in Farhan Akhtar’s 'Don 2: The Chase Begins'.
In SRK’s superhero flick ‘Ra.One’ also, Priyanka will be seen making a guest appearance.

Apparently, the game will be hitting the stand a month before the movie’s release.

John maintains slim, beefy look simultaneously

Actor John Abraham, who plays pivotal roles in his upcoming movies ‘Force’ and ‘Desi Boyz’, is apparently having a tough time maintaining both slim and beefy look simultaneously for his imminent ventures.

Reportedly, in Vipul Shah’s ‘Force’, John has to sport a beefy, muscular look, whereas in Rohit Dhawan’s ‘Desi Boyz’, the hunk has to flaunt a slim, slender avatar, and as the shooting for both the movies is taking place at the same time, the hero is doing all he can to hold on to both the looks.
Talking about John and his efforts, an insider said, “John is very particular about his body and getting a desired look the healthy way. He doesn’t advocate short cuts at any cost.
“Desi Boyz requires a lean physique, while a macho and bulked up look is in order for him in Force. Everybody was worried, but John said that he’ll work out a proper regime.”
How did John manage to sport two diverse looks simultaneously?
Revealing how John and he worked hard to maintain the diverse looks simultaneously, the actor’s trainer Vinod Channa stated that they tried different fitness regime each day to get the desired results.
“It’s tough to gain eight kilos and still maintain six-pack abs. From his diet to his exercise regimen, John and I would change plans almost everyday to achieve the desired results. We’d also check regularly and see how his body was reacting to each plan, and then alter it accordingly,” John’s trainer told DNA.
However, though this time around John has managed well to please both the makers of his forthcoming movies, the actor makes sure not to fall into a similar kind of situation in future.

John Abraham, Sanjay Gupta bond big time

Of late, reports are trickling in that actor John Abraham and filmmaker Sanjay Gupta are bonding big time.
Formerly, Sanjay Gupta shared a good rapport with Sanjay Dutt, but apparently, because of some unknown reasons, their association has turned sour now.
Scuttlebutt has it that Sanjay Gupta and his new buddy John are having plans of co-producing films together.

Brit-rock hairstyle: men’s hair trend for 2011 / 2012

There’s a men’s hairstyle that hasn’t left the catwalk in some time: the slightly tousled, slightly devil-may-care, forward sweeping men’s hairstyle. It’s been called many a thing, but with its Regency overtones and the fact that it continues to be favoured and interpreted by many a British indie band, it’s a hairstyle we’ve dubbed the Brit-rock hairstyle.

It’s also a hairstyle with enduring appeal and while we’ve been talking about it since 2009, we have to be clear that it has evolved. The ‘wet look’ of 2010, for instance, will look positively outdated in 2012 for instance.

Read on for more information about the men’s Brit rock hairstyle, including a how-to guide on how to wear this 2012 men’s hair trend.

Defining the Brit rock hairstyle
The picture above is likely to have already given you a pretty clear idea of what the Brit rock hairstyle is and while it may have spoken the thousand words, here’s a few less than that:

The Brit rock hairstyle is a hair swept forwards style for young guys that gives them a fringe. It’s to be worn with nonchalantly and with swagger. It’s not necessarily British, nor is it necessarily the domain of rockers, but what it is is cool.

Suitable for guys with everything from straight to curly hair, the Brit rock hairstyle is all about length through the top. It’s also about texture. That texture can be a trait of your hair, or can come about courtesy of hair cut that introduces lots of slicing, chipping, razoring and deep point cutting.

Men’s indie hairstyle examples
Dubbing this the ‘Brit’ rock hairstyle for 2011 / 2012 may seem to unfairly weight it as appealing to only a certain type of guy. And it really shouldn’t. While it’s not a fringed men’s hairstyle that is going to work for everyone, neither is it a hair style that’s only going to work for the British male. Or rockers. It just so happens that British bands and British fashion labels Burberry Prorsum have done more to popularise this fringed hairstyle than anybody else; the latter so much so that if you took the musicians out of the equation you could almost call this autumn 2011/ spring 2012‘s Burberry hairstyle.

So what versions of the Brit rock have Burberry made popular then? The following:
Long all over, this is an interpretation of the indie hair cut for straight hair.

The perfect interpretation of an indie hairstyle for men with curly hair, the short sides prevent the hair cut from making the head look large.

This interpretation is short on the sides and more clean cut. It’s likely that this would be cut with scissors over a comb, but it wouldn’t be uncommon for your hair dresser to use clippers. They real key to this interpretation of the style is that the length throughout the top is blended into the shorter sides. In styling it, the fringe can be treated as a separate part: it can be left longer or cut differently, preferably sliced to give it more texture and to prevent it from being too heavy and thus sitting flat. Like the interpretation above, this is another great cut if you’ve got thick hair that is likely to sit up and make your head look large.

This mopped interpretation of the hairstyle is one you might consider a modern update on the Beatles. It features a swept fringe with length kept on sides and works best for guys with straight hair. This style can be cut quite uniformed or cut square on the sides to heighten the sense of masculinity. Given it’s for straight hair you need to have irregular lengths throughout to create texture and take out weight, without that it will be too blunt. Your hairdresser will be able to slice or deep-point cut to create the irregular lengths.

If you’re looking for examples off of the catwalk we could recommend any number of British indie bands. In fact, if one looks to the bands coming forth from British Isles it would appear that some governmental edict has been issued dictating precisely what indie hairstyles are allowed and which are not. Agreeing with said imaginary edict are the likes of The Kooks, The Horrors, the Arctic Monkeys, The View, and the Klaxons. So there you have it: this the hairstyle for you if you like or you play in a band whose moniker requires a ‘The’.

Prior to 2011 / 2012 we saw Bottega Veneta feature the men’s fringe on the catwalk, something that has left us with two clear examples of a do and don’t for this year and next. In the photo below the left is the do and the right is the don’t. The left is a do because it sets clean-cut sides against a purposefully disheveled top. The right is a don’t as it’s just too neat, too school boy, too devoid of attitude. In short: to nail the modern men’s fringe it’s best to avoid the straight, side swept fringe and ensure that it’s instead worn with plenty of texture

While the above picture serves as a do and a don’t, the following serves solely as a don’t for the hairstyle as it’s evolved. Commit this to memory: the men’s fringe shouldn’t be worn with a wet finish in 2011 / 2012. A healthy shine is okay, wet is not.
